Old Schoolhouse

At one time there were no schools in Shetland and children were schooled in any byre or available building. Andrew Hunter’s house was the first purpose-built school in the [South Nesting] district and it was known as the Old Schoolhouse. It was built over 200 years ago [early 18th century]. The photograph below shows the Old Schoolhouse (white building, second from right).
